چکیده

Theoretical models play an important role in the design of engine control and diagnostic systems, allowing to reduce development time and costs. The paper describes a control-oriented theoretical model for the simulation of an automotive Diesel engine built up using a “simulation library” developed in Simulink environment. Library blocks, defined for engine components and subsystems, were assembled together in a Mean Value Engine Model (MVEM) of a typical automotive Diesel engine, with Common Rail injection system, waste-gated turbine and EGR. Simulation results were compared with experimental data (both in steady and transient conditions) showing a good agreement. The model satisfactorily estimated engine behaviour both in steady and transient operation with very short calculation times.

Designing of LQIG method for controlling the wastegate of a turbocharged diesel engine to increase engine output power using experimental results of engine test chamber laboratory

In this paper, first, using a test set on a turbocharged diesel engine in the engine test room, a nonlinear model is obtained and it is linearized around several operation points. Then, for the linear models, a linear quadratic integral Gaussian controller (LQIG) with variable parameters as function of engine speed is designed and simulated. In the proposed method, by controlling the wastegate,...

Sliding Mode Control for Diesel Engine Using Extended State Observer

This paper does a research on turbocharged diesel engines both of air-path or speed-path alone, and proposes a cooperative control strategy of air and speed-path two loop TDE system. For modern diesel engines, accurate air/fuel ratio (AFR) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) rates design are very important to meet the requirements of emission standards of NOx and PM. For the EGR and AFR rates a...
